1. Introduction and basic principles of operation. Upon activating this module, we create a copy of the standard categories from the TecDoc catalog. The main benefit of this solution is that you can then freely manipulate these categories and customize them to your own needs.

2. Main features and customization options. The module provides extensive options for modifying the structure and appearance of categories:. Reorganization and hierarchy: Categories can be freely rearranged and used to create entirely new parent categories. Visual customization: Since these are fully manageable categories, it is possible to upload custom icons to them. Prioritization: The most popular or important categories can be promoted to higher positions in the menu. Displaying subcategories: The category listing can be configured to directly show subcategories as well. Although this is not a technical necessity and you can choose to display only the main categories, displaying subcategories is frequently used in practice because it is visually more appealing.

3. Creating custom categories and Landing Pages. A major strength of the module is the ability to create custom, specific categories (e.g., "Brakes"), which work excellently as landing pages for advertising campaigns:. Product assignment: You can then select specific product types that you want to display in the category (e.g., a set of brake pads, a brake disc). Brand filtering: The category content can also be restricted to a specific brand (for example, to create a category focused exclusively on Bilstein shock absorbers). You can configure these specific settings for the selected category in the Display vehicle selection and products from TecDoc for a given vehicle section (where you add the Product types (from TecDoc) you want to display). You can optionally select brands in the Display products only with brands section. Subsequently, you need to check the required boxes in the Display category by vehicle selection section.

4. Vehicle selection behavior and UX benefits. The implementation of the module significantly shortens and simplifies the customer's journey to the product, which has an impact on the effectiveness of advertising campaigns:. Without a pre-selected vehicle: If a customer arrives at a created landing page (e.g., via an ad for Octavia brake discs) and hasn't selected a car yet, the page prompts them to select a vehicle using an asynchronous pop-up window. This method is less invasive and more pleasant for the user than tedious clicking from one page to another. The selection in the window takes about 3 clicks. With a pre-selected vehicle: If the customer has already selected a car on the e-shop earlier, the category immediately displays specific parts directly for their vehicle without a single additional click. Comparison: In the standard TecDoc tree, a customer coming from an ad would have to make up to 7 clicks (selecting the make, engine, and clicking through the category tree multiple times). Thanks to this module and landing pages, the process is reduced to 0 to 3 clicks.

5. Changing the URL structure. Using the module modifies the URL structure. After the modification, the information about the selected vehicle appears only as a parameter after the question mark. Before modification: demo.kvik.shop/spare-parts/ford/s-max-2015/2.0-tdci-88kw/filtr After modification: demo.kvik.shop/filters?v=ford--s-max-2015--2.0-tdci-88kw

6. Three ways to use individually created categories and their presentation on the e-shop. You can present your custom categories in three different ways:. Hidden main category with a listing on the homepage: The main created category (e.g., named "Most Frequently Replaced Parts") is not normally available in the menu and cannot be clicked through, but its subcategories are extracted and displayed directly as tiles on the e-shop homepage. In the categories section, you create a new Parent category and subcategories, and then you hide the parent category. The display on the homepage is then configured in the menu Elements → Homepage. In the Editor, you select Categories. Then choose Display list of - Subcategories and subsequently select the Parent category with the desired Icon position. Available only via URL: The categories are not listed anywhere on the e-shop and the user cannot access them via the standard menu. They are accessed only via a direct URL. This is ideal precisely for hidden advertising landing pages. Visible section on the website: You can create a standard category visible to everyone (e.g., "Best-selling categories"), into which you manually select the most important sections.
