# Data distribution

- The recommended protocol is FTP. 
- Suppliers send data (CSV file) to retailers once or at scheduled interval.
- It is not required that one CSV file must include all required columns. 
- Data can be split into multiple CSV files, in each file, there should be `itemCode` to define whose properties they belong. 
- This creates possibility for a list of items and its main information to be updated at longer intervals, stock information and prices at shorter intervals.

## Filenames

- Preferred filename is composed from supplier's name and retailer's name.
- Only ASCII characters allowed. 
- Both supplier's name and retailer's name are composed only of characters from ASCII set.
- Only lowercase character allowed.
- An alphanumeric code can be used to identify the retailer, e.g. from supplier's system.
- Supplier's name and retailer's name is separated by an underscore.
- File extension is .csv.
- If the file is sent to retailers regularly through data repository (e.g. FTP), the filename must retain the same.
- If the supplier decided to split data into multiple files, it is recommended to add the content of the file to each filename. 

✅ **Correct:**

- `nameofsupplier_nameofretailer.csv`
- `nameofsupplier_654321.csv`

❌ **Wrong:**

- `PRiCE name of supplier FULL-august.CSV`

### Example – File containing only stock information from all warehouses

- Example filename: `nameofsupplier_nameofretailer_stockAvailability.csv`
